Adam Sandler plays a slightly "slow" grown man who dispenses water to the players of a football team. Painful, had to stop after twenty minutes. Maybe I missed the good part. (Last viewed: September 2010)

Dismal sequel to Analyze This. These retarded Hollywood scripte writers couldn't help themselves…instead of featuring a believable mafia concerned with extortion and car wreckers, they had to invent a James-Bond-scale heist and make it unravel in the middle of a movie set—don't you know the whole world revolves around movies? De Niro and Crystal's strong acting coax out a few smiles, but even they could not save the movie from its sinking, stinking plot. Pathetic. (Last viewed: September 2010)

A young woman who discovers her husband has been cheating goes on a road trip with her grandmother. Tammy's straight-shooting, foul-mouthed character is endearing and the movie is well meaning. But there are no laughs and the plot fails to generate enough interest to redeem the lack of laughs. Overall, I'd say the movie is about as weak as this review—that's how inspiring it was. All the tapes at a struggling video rental store get erased. To limit the damage, the staff start shooting their own versions of blockbuster movies and meet unexpected success. This was sweet and well-intentionned but fairly boring. (Last viewed: July 2017)

In this 1990s movie that feels as though it belongs to the 1980s, a young man and a young woman spend a night together inside a Target supermarket where the former works as a janitor and the latter fell asleep while shoplifting. Light-hearted but very low-cal in the laughs department. (Last viewed: June 2021)

A rock star who speaks a language of his own is also a righter of wrongs. When he mentors America's children to stay away from tobacco and hamburgers, he gets in the cross-hairs of corporate America's big boss.
I enjoyed seeing Wanda Sykes as well as JB Smoove (the actor who plays Leon in Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Chris Rock. Although this movie didn't really make me laugh, it entertained me as I found it thoroughly original.
I didn't know Louis CK could direct, let alone write such a mad script. This movie establishes him among the best African American directors, alongside Spike Lee. (Last viewed: July 2015)

In the throngs of a mid-life crisis, a Berverley Hills personality becomes obsessed with a woman whose face he has glimpse by chance at a stop light.
Although this was not a Blake Edwards movie of the "laugh-out-loud" category, I found it very entertaining. I loved the pacing, the dialog, the texture and the actors.
The worst part of the movie is probably its sexist posters: don't let that keep you away from this 1970s classic. (Last viewed: December 2018)

An outgoing man who loves drink, games and smoke must give up his "sins" for one year in order for his wife to inherit ten million dollars. Rodney Dangerfield tries hard, but the laughs don't come—I feel sorry for him and the crew, as it's a cute story. Honorable appearance by Joe Pesci as the best friend who helps you get in (or stay out of) trouble. (Last viewed: August 2010)

A lonely cable guy (Jim Carrey) decides he wants to become one of his customers' best friends. Starts out silly (with some good laughs), ends up psycho. I wanted to watch a comedy, mama, not a stalker movie! Only watch if you're ready to zap. (Last viewed: June 2010)

While the original Legally Blonde was surprisingly entertaining, this first sequel has very little to offer. It takes place in Washington, DC, where our heroin takes a job with a congresswoman in order to push an animal rights' bill. The movie missed the "just awful" category, but not by much. A school election provides the chance to look deep into the personality of several characters — from an unsavory model student to a frustrated teacher.
At first this movie looked as harmless as apple pie, but I was surprised at how heavy it hit every once in a while. There were no actual laughs, but it was a pleasant-enough watch laced with a few chuckles.

Woody Allen took a Japanese spy movie and changed the soundtrack, turning it into a comedy. It's goofy, easy on the eyes, and if you're in a tolerant mood it will make you smile. (Last viewed: October 2012)

I know that for some Mel Brooks is a big reference in comedy, but I just don't seem to like any of his movies. This one is a little less chaotic than others I'd attempted, and at least I was able to make myself watch it till the end. I had to—Blazing Saddles is something of a cultural icon.
On the verge of being destroyed by bandits, a town telegraphs the governor asking for a new sheriff. Being black, the one who is appointed must overcome the citizens' prejudice. He is soon joined by a skillful sidekick, played by Gene Wilder.
The movie still failed to make me laugh, but it has some redeeming qualities, not least of it its sweetness. If this is the effect even Blazing Saddles has on me, I won't be trying to watch (and review) other films by Mel Brooks. For the most part, my impression has been that they are best suited to the mindset of thirteen year-old boys, from the mixture of grand phrases with crassness to the interplay of various levels of reality.
Lucky for us, there are movies to suit just about every sense of humor. If Mel Brooks fits yours, please enjoy. (Last viewed: July 2017)

Pitch Perfect—a movie about a university's all-female a cappella group—was funny. This sequel had close to nothing going for it in the first thirty minutes, and we just gave up. Sure, they threw money at it to make things bigger and brighter. But isn't that precisely the recipe for a doomed sequel? (Last viewed: September 2015)

IMDB wrongly labels this movie as a comedy. It's a good movie, but don't expect to laugh. Three American campaign political advisers are hired to help run the reelection campaign of Russian president Boris Yeltsin. Australian Anthony LaPaglia makes a convincing American, and I'm always happy to see Jeff Goldblum. (Last viewed: October 2013)
