This was the first Urugayan comedy I ever watched and it was a good surprise. Although it wasn't a laugh-out-loud comedy, it was entertaining enough considering how insipid the light-hearted category tends to be. I was surprised by how consistent the script and pacing was, given the tendency of movies from across the border to the left to sometimes ramble and lose the plot.

This movie can only be called a comedy in so far as the very last line made me chuckle.
¡Carmen! ¡Tengo una idea!
There. Now you have nearly the entire comedic content of the film — unless you want to come at me with qualifiers such as "understated" or "dark humor".
Apart from that, this movie presents the touching story of the poor folk of a frontier town who buy into the idea that a visit by the Catholic pope is going to save them economically if only they mortgage their houses to buy sausages to feed the visitors. As a movie, I recommend it highly. For laughs, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Needing a break, three women rent a decrepit house in an empty resort. The first night, three women acquaintances crash their vacation. By morning, the squatters have eaten all the bread. That's as far as I got with this film as after 25 minutes it didn't seem to want to go anywhere. To me it felt like a very bad film school project. This may be one of these films that can only be appreciated by specific age groups, and only very stoned. If you're making your plans for the evening and are hesitating between watching this and shooting yourself, I'm pretty sure you'll get more satisfaction out of shooting yourself. But I'm not a doctor.
