Having enjoyed a number of episodes from the Canadian TV series
Corner Gas some years ago, I was intrigued to watch the movie. The fact that it aired on television a few days after its theatrical release is no small hint about the film's merits, and indeed we found it mediocre in a number of departments: the plot, to be sure, but that doesn't matter one bit when a movie triggers hard laughter; laughs were not forthcoming. We still enjoyed seeing the familiar faces of these "old friends", but that pleasure was accompanied by a distinct feeling of having moved on.
