A Boyfriend for My Wife posterA Boyfriend for My Wife (Un novio para mi mujer)

Sick-and-tired of his pesky wife but too timid to break up, a man hires an aging Don Juan to seduce her away. This is a very watchable romantic comedy, but don't expect any belly laughs. (Last viewed: January 2018)

Esperando La Carroza DVDWaiting for the Hearse (Esperando La Carroza)
      1985 | Argentina | Laughs: 2.7 (Watch Once) | imdb: 8.3
      wikipedia | who was involved?

For me, this movie was worth watching if only because I'd never seen a movie from Argentina before, let alone an Argentinean comedy. On a Sunday family gathering, three brothers and their wives argue about who should care for their senile mother. Loud at times and a bit fast-paced for me as I barely had time to read the subtitles, but cute, with funny moments. (Last viewed: December 2010)

The Distinguished Citizen El ciudadano ilustre posterThe Distinguished Citizen (El Ciudadano Ilustre)
      2016 | Argentina | Laughs: 1.8 (Light-Hearted) | imdb: 7.5
      wikipedia | who was involved?

After winning the Nobel Prize for literature, an Argentinian writer who has spent his whole career in Europe agrees to receive a medal in the country town he has worked so hard to escape.

This was not a laugh-out-loud comedy, but I found it delightfully perverse and it make me smirk. Highly recommended. (Last viewed: March 2018)

The Method El Método posterThe Method (El Método)
      2005 | Argentina | Laughs: 0.5 (Light-Hearted) | imdb: 7.3
      wikipedia | who was involved?

The seven final candidates to an executive position are pitted one against the other in a psychological game to determine the hire. The movie ranks high for dramatic tension on a low budget (most of it takes place in a board room). While I recommend it, don't watch it if you're hoping to laugh—the comdedy tag on imdb seems inadequate. (Last viewed: August 2018)
