A Boyfriend for My Wife posterA Boyfriend for My Wife (Un novio para mi mujer)
      2008 | Argentina | Laughs: 2.8 (Watch Once) | imdb: 6.8
      wikipedia | who was involved?

Sick-and-tired of his pesky wife but too timid to break up, a man hires an aging Don Juan to seduce her away. This is a very watchable romantic comedy, but don't expect any belly laughs. (Last viewed: January 2018)

Esperando La Carroza DVDWaiting for the Hearse (Esperando La Carroza)
      1985 | Argentina | Laughs: 2.7 (Watch Once) | imdb: 8.3
      wikipedia | who was involved?

For me, this movie was worth watching if only because I'd never seen a movie from Argentina before, let alone an Argentinean comedy. On a Sunday family gathering, three brothers and their wives argue about who should care for their senile mother. Loud at times and a bit fast-paced for me as I barely had time to read the subtitles, but cute, with funny moments. (Last viewed: December 2010)

The Distinguished Citizen El ciudadano ilustre posterThe Distinguished Citizen (El Ciudadano Ilustre)
      2016 | Argentina | Laughs: 1.8 (Light-Hearted) | imdb: 7.5
      wikipedia | who was involved?

After winning the Nobel Prize for literature, an Argentinian writer who has spent his whole career in Europe agrees to receive a medal in the country town he has worked so hard to escape.

This was not a laugh-out-loud comedy, but I found it delightfully perverse and it make me smirk. Highly recommended. (Last viewed: March 2018)

Tiempo de valientes poster On ProbationOn Probation (Tiempo de valientes)
      2005 | Argentina | Laughs: 1.5 (Watch Once) | imdb: 7.6
      wikipedia | who was involved?

A policeman who is severely depressed after learning that his wife is cheating on him is assigned a psychiatrist, who soon learns that he too is a cuckold.

After starting out as a comedy, the movie turns into a full-fledged adventure flick somewhere partway. While either part is fine in its own right and the characters are likeable, I do prefer it when movies stick to a single genre.

Everything considered, still an entertaining watch if you have nothing better to do. (Last viewed: December 2018)

Relatos Salvajes poster Wild TalesWild Tales (Relatos Salvajes)
      2014 | Argentina | Laughs: 1.0 (Smirk) | imdb: 8.1
      wikipedia | who was involved?

This movie collects six "savage tales" whose main theme is revenge. Though not a laug-out-loud comedy, it is quite pleasant and well-produced. Well worth a watch. (Last viewed: Mar 2015 December 2018)

The Method El Método posterThe Method (El Método)
      2005 | Argentina | Laughs: 0.5 (Light-Hearted) | imdb: 7.3
      wikipedia | who was involved?

The seven final candidates to an executive position are pitted one against the other in a psychological game to determine the hire. The movie ranks high for dramatic tension on a low budget (most of it takes place in a board room). While I recommend it, don't watch it if you're hoping to laugh—the comdedy tag on imdb seems inadequate. (Last viewed: August 2018)

La suerte está echada posterThe Die Is Cast (La suerte está echada)
      2005 | Argentina | Laughs: 0.2 (Light-Hearted) | imdb: 7.2
      who was involved?

An actor with a physique such that he could be called the Argentinian Ben Stiller inherits a dying man's bad luck and becomes a mufa, a jinx. The plot involves a half-brother and his romantic interest, the two men's dying father, and tango lessons. At times it is slow and meandering in the way that Argentinian movies used to be known for, but on the whole the film is a pleasant watch. Just don't come here looking for laughs. Metegol Underdogs posterUnderdogs (Metegol)
      2013 | Argentina | Laughs: 0.2 (Don't Bother) | imdb: 6.6
      wikipedia | who was involved?

The lead figures of a foosball game come to life and need to be rescued by the game's champion. Although I wasted months of my life playing foosball and therefore have some interest for the theme, I gave up on this animated film before the halfway mark — finding the voices loud, the animation crude and the plot uninteresting.
