About Amanda
( wikipedia | imdb )
On the strength of just one film (She's The Man) Amanda is one of my favorite contemporary actresses in comedy. That's a compliment, but it also says a lot about the scarcity of funny females in comedy films. Sadly, Amanda doesn't seem to get a lot of work.
One thing I like about Amanda's acting is that while her voice stays relatively neutral, she uses her face to display a range of emotions in fast succession. I call this emoticon acting. It may not win Oscars, but it's effective in a comedy setting. Ask Charlie Chaplin!
Amanda Bynes is said to have been born on Thursday 3 April 1986, which would make her 38 years and 1 months old (if this date is accurate and she is alive today).

When her twin brother elopes to London, a girl pretends to be him for the first two weeks at his new high school so she can play on the soccer team. I liked this movie a lot. When women play men's roles, to me it usually feels phony in a really bad way. But for some reason, perhaps just great acting, for once it was very funny. By the way, what is it with movies about young women wanting to play soccer? They're really good! Actually I've only seen two.
Bend it like Beckham was funny too, but this is funnier. I'll be looking for more films with Amanda Bynes. And young women who want to play soccer.

who was involved?
An American teenage girl travels to the U.K. to finally meet her dad, a prominent politician of royal lineage. Although the film had its entertaining moments—mostly the poking fun at stuck-up people kind—it was a waste of a very decent cast, including Colin Firth and Amanda Bynes, who had shone in

To get noticed among her peers, a high-school girl let it be believed that she sleeps around. Strong characters, a truckload of good actors: this movie had lots of potential, but it fails to deliver in the one area this site is concerned with: laughter. I classified it among broken comedies because throughout the movie I wanted to laugh and couldn't, but if you started with low expectations on that side I suppose you could enjoy it as a light-hearted flick, as many of the characters (from the hero's dad to her arch-conservative nemesis) are delightful.

Rejected by the vicious president of a beauty farm (err… I mean, sorority), a college freshman joins the dorks and campaigns for student council. After
She's The Man, I enjoyed seeing Amanda Bynes in a role with hints of tomboy once again. The movie didn't make me laugh, but it was cute and I smiled a lot.
